Porcelain insulator types

Porcelain insulator types can be classified as per their applications, such as transmission line insulators, distribution line insulators, substation insulators, stay wire insulator, apparatus insulators, etc.

Porcelain Disc Insulators:
Porcelain disc insulators are made into disc shape, that’s why it got this name. The disc insulator has metal fittings on both ends, usually seen as ball and socket type, and also there are tongue and clevis type coupling. Several pieces of ceramic disc insulators are connected together to make up an insulator string. This string is used in electricity power transmission line and distribution line from 11KV to 400KV or even higher.

Currently the ceramic disc insulators we supply are mainly designed and tested according to ANSI standard, which known as 52 series. ANSI 52 series disc insulators include 52-1, 52-2, 52-3, 52-4, 52-5, 52-6, and 52-9. These insulators are various in dimensions, mechanical load and electrical properties. The ANSI dimensions and standard particulars, specifications for ANSI disc insulators, and other details of this type insulator, are available.

Porcelain spool / Shackle Insulators:
Shackle insulator is also called spool insulators, consisting of one component of insulating material and intended to be secured to the structure by means of a spindle passing through it.
Orient produces shackle insulators to ANSI standard and BS, the common products are 53-1, 53-2, 53-3, 53-4 shackle insulators, ED-2(C), ED-2(B), ED-2(B)1, 1617, 1618-1, 1618-2 spool insulators.

ANSI dimensions and standard particulars, British standard parameters and drawings, and other details of porcelain shackle insulators are available.

Porcelain Stay Insulators:
For low voltage lines, the stays are to be insulated from ground at a height. The insulator used in the stay wire is called as the stay insulator and is usually of porcelain and is so designed that in case of breakage of the insulator the guy-wire will not fall to the ground. ANSI dimensions and standard particulars of Porcelain Stay Insulators are available.

Porcelain Pin Type Insulators:
With semi-conductive glaze on insulator head, our radio free pin type insulators are able to reduce the high electrical stresses and virtually eliminate corona discharges and radio interference. We currently offer low-, medium- and high-voltage pin type insulators that meet all ANSI standards. In ANSI standard, pin type insulators are normally defined as 55 series and 56 series, including:
ANSI 55 series ceramic insulators: 55-1, 55-2, 55-3, 55-4, 55-5 pin type insulators.
ANSI pin type insulator 56 series: 56-1, 56-2, 56-3, 56-4, 56-5 pin type insulators, these insulators are made of porcelain and used on distribution lines below 33KV mainly.
We also produce fog bowl insulators for heavily polluted atmospheres and pin type insulator according to BS standard, commonly seen as P-33-Y, P-22-Y, P-15-Y, and P-11-Y.
Specifications and drawings, dimension and standard particulars for ceramic insulators are available.

Porcelain line post insulators
For high voltage transmission and distribution lines, and the common insulator types are ANSI 57-1, 57-2, 57-3, 57-4, 57-5, ANSI 57-11, 57-12, 57-13, 57-14, 57-15, ANSI 57-21, 57-22, 57-23, 57-24, 57-25, ANSI 57-31, 57-32, 57-33, 57-34, 57-35
