ANSI 57-26 porcelain line post insulator is horizontal clamp top-cup base type, and ANSI 57-21, ANSI 57-22, ANSI 57-23, ANSI 57-24, ANSI 57-25 together referred to as clamp-top line post insulator.
The surface of the ANSI 57-26 porcelain line post insulator should be glazed enough so that water should not be traced on it. Porcelain also should be free from porosity since porosity is the main cause of deterioration of its dielectric property. It must also be free from any impurity and air bubble inside the material which may affect the insulator properties.
ANSI 57-26 porcelain line post insulator parameters:
Type | 57-26 | ||
Creepage distance | mm | 1346
Dry arcing distance | mm | 489
Cantilever strength | KN | 12.5
Power frequency flashover voltage | Dry | KV | 180 |
Wet | KV | 150 | |
Critical impulse flashover voltage | Positive | KV | 300 |
Negative | |||
Radio interference voltage | Test voltage to ground | KV | 44 |
Max. RIV at 1 MHz | μV | 200 |
To ensure the desired performance of clamp-top line post insulator that is for avoiding unwanted insulator failure, each line post insulator has to undergo numbers of insulator test. Before going through testing of insulator we will try to understand different causes of insulator failure. Because insulator testing ensures the quality of electrical insulator and chances for failure of insulation depend upon the quality of insulator.
In addition to flashover tests, performance tests, Orient Power will do routine tests, which include corrosion test and proofload test, for ANSI 57-26 porcelain line post insulator and other porcelain line post insulators to ensure their quality.
